Siquijor : Young and Loving It

Work after graduation is not meant for me. After my Hong Kong adventure with my family, I had another piece of wonderful escape. My first international trip was short and I was craving for more so I went on local trip to an island which was very mysterious, feared and I know is beautiful, Siquijor. It was my first time in the place and I have heard rumors about it. They said that it was the home to witchcraft and all sorts of ghouls.

The route of our journey is from Cebu to Tagbilaran to Siquijor to Oroquieta. It was long. We left Cebu port at 12 noon and we aim to dock at Tagbilaran port which is 4 hours wave crashing. I mean the waves were calm and the skies were clear at this time. I had lots of talks with Evo and it was unnoticeable that we arrived in Tagbilaran. We took off the vessel to see the beauty of the sunset, to breathe some fresh air and to do men-spotting which we already did while on board.

Men-spotting was a serious business to us. We would die if we don't do it. Here are our catch.

He is a crew of the ship. As we assess his actions,
it is as if he wanted to have sex in the open port area.
He's so handsome and cute. I wish had a baby with him.
He's another member of the crew.
I love his smile. Black is definitely beauty.

We left Tagbilaran on night sky at around 7 pm. Another 4 hour trip has begun. The ship was now full of passengers unlike earlier. So we moved to our assigned seat number. So we were now on the 3rd floor of the ship. We stayed previously on the second. Others were already asleep but our eyes would not shut. Instead, we sang songs loudly while the winds were touching our cheeks. We were the walkers of the ship. We sat on our seats for a while and after a few minutes we walked around again. Restless feet would be able to spot a grace. We met a man. He was not the usual Bisaya because he's from Manila who's having his almost ending internship. Talk and talk and talk until such time that I saw an island which has only a few lights from afar and the totality of it was dark. Unlike with Cebu when viewed from a ship in a distance, lights are sparkling so bright. I asked Evo why is it like that. So he answered me that Siquijor is really a mountainous undeveloped provincial place. He added that there's no mall in the place.

The ship was in its final stage of docking and I could see lots of people waiting in the closed gate. They were probably fetching their relatives who's aboard with us. We bid farewell to the ship and waited for the uncle of Evo to fetch us. It was already 11 pm. Stories say that ghosts go out by 12 midnight. The rumors of the place are haunting me. I tried to battle my mentality with good vibes and positivity but my friends's uncle who's supposed to be here now wasn't here. Goodness! So we went to the nearest commercial area of Larena searching for his uncle while passing by a church which was a bit scary. The night sky and moon were doubling my chills. The streets were very quiet and it was only us who were walking.

We thought we'd be sleeping in the
bakery and wait for morning to come.

Evo contacted her aunt to ask and inform her that we already arrived but his uncle was out of scene. My friend got paranoid and saw a motorcycle with the driver on it's back which he knew was his uncle but we weren't able to follow. The unexpected rain fell but soon halted. It was almost 2 in the morning and my friend's uncle was not around. We headed back to the port area with high hopes that his uncle was there but that uncle failed us. A driver offered us a ride going home to the mountainous Candigum. It was a God given driver. The fare costs 80 per person. While on our way to the mountain, the road was really dark. There was no light post and only the front light of the motorcycle was giving us hope to reach home. I guess that was a 35-45 minute two-wheel drive. We were finally home and we found out that Evo's uncle did not fetch us. The fun adventure just started.
