AVOID PROCRASTINATION
Steps:
-Never feel lazy
-Think you can do it
-If it is a big task, break it down to smaller parts
-Make a list of what to do
-Finish what you have started
Evaluation: Procrastination is possible to overcome but I have hard time overcoming it. I usually mix up my activities and had confusions which one to prioritize. I sometimes cannot get rid of the step which is not to feel lazy because there are times that I feel the need to relax and forget about the task. But the good thing is that I was able to write down some of my tasks and even use Gmail notes so that I will not forget of it. Grade is 7.
MAINTAIN CLEANLINESS & ORDER (room)
Steps:
-Fix bed when awake
-Get clothes in the closet slowly
-Sweep room every other day
-Return the things being used immediately to its proper place
-Treat your room like your body – it should be clean and presentable always
Evaluation: I have not successfully achieved my first step but instead I fix my bed once a week if not once in two weeks. It’s getting worse right? I do step two and three but not as accurately as what is planned especially in weeping the room because I look at the hair falls on the floor and if there’s plenty, then that will be the time to sweep. I partly treated my room as part of my body because I am already conscious with it. Grade is 7.
MAINTAIN CLEANLINESS AND ORDER (house)
Steps:
-Help doing chores: sweeping of all house every other day
-Make dining table clean everyday
-Do things before others tell you to do so
-Clean the pets utensils
-Treat the house as a public place where everybody sees it
Evaluation: Most of the steps that I’ve made were not achieved but I was able to apply the steps which I consider as important. I had always the initiative to arrange things and clean objects that is making the house dirty. I am the only one in the family who possesses this attitude. I also treated our house as a public place causing me to be mindful about positions and arrangement of house furniture and materials. Grade is 8.
LESS FB, MORE STUDY
Steps:
-Commit to stay few hours in FB. At least 1 hour a day
-During vacant times, study first before opening computer
-Feel like you’re aiming for Summa Cum Laude
-Assignments are done first before others
-Study on exams
-Think of Facebook as an ugly and useless place
-Do fun at the right time without sacrificing the studies
Evaluation: I am not triumphant in overcoming the less Facebook resolution because the social network itself is as addictive as drugs. Though there is nothing left to be done but I find myself continuously scrolling down the page. I never forget to study my lessons. Never. Grade is 7.
PRACTICE CODING
Steps:
-I wish I had a laptop
-Make coding as a part of your chore in life aside from cleaning
-Be always positive even programs have errors
-Be passionate and love programming
-Think that you can always do it. Never leave codes unfinished
-Answer exercises given
Evaluation: Because I have passed my Data Structures class, I was not coding anymore. I also did not practice web development coding but when I was in my OJT, I was able to practice and learn new languages. This year was so good that we had a new laptop. Grade is 8.
SLEEP EARLY
Steps:
-Less time on FB
-Sleeping time: 9:30
-Think of yourself that you can still grow, so sleep
-Make it a habit to sleep during siesta time if vacant
-Sleep is like love. I need to be in love with sleeping (coz I’m not a sleep-loving person)
-Tell yourself that prince charming is always waiting in your dreams
-When feeling tire or sleepy, sleep
-After I made this last step, I felt sleepy. (haha)
Evaluation: I would rate this part of my resolution as the lowest because I really cannot sleep early. Factors to be considered would be Facebook and my wandering mind when I am in bed, insomnia perhaps. Sleeping time was not met so as less time on Facebook. Grade is 5.
BE MORE FRIENDLY
Steps:
-Maintain a pleasant face
-Smile to all people you know
-Party harder with friends
-Think of it that everyone can be your friend
-Do not force yourself to like people whom you hate
-Stay away from unreal and feeler people
-Be real
Evaluation: I have this tendency in school that I do not smile or give attention to my past semester classmates. Sorry but I just feel shy and have nothing to offer not even just a talk. It feels awkward for me to smile and walk away. I was able to maintain a pleasant face and not just pleasant but also beautiful. It was made possible by the carrot soap that I’ve been using. Grade is 8.
BE MORE FASHIONABLE
Steps:
-Buy only cheap clothes but nice
-Be more active in surplus buying
-Make it your own
-Feel comfortable with what you wear and feel beautiful all the time
-Confidence is the key
Evaluation: I have the creative side in me but I do not how to make use of it. I need to exert more effort in the do-it-yourself side of fashion. But I have already and constantly practiced myself in buying surplus clothes which are very affordable for poor people like me. No one can take out the confidence in me but I lose it sometimes when guys or people whom I do not like are looking at me. Grade is 8.
PARTY HARDER
Steps:
-Go to NUVO at least once a week
-Invite a lot of friends
-Drink but do not get drunk
-Go home early (miracle)
-Enjoy the night like it is your night
Evaluation: I’ve been going to clubs this year but on the later part of 2012 in November. I was not actively going because my party buddies went far away to pursue their careers and I cannot find better party buddies than them. Grade is 10. I graded myself 10 because there was a time that I was really wasted because of drunkenness. It is one of a kind and unforgettable experience.
NO MORE 5 OR INC
Steps:
-Make projects and assignments your friends
-Be wise
-Believe in yourself that you always can
-Have faith in yourself and study
-Ask God for his heavenly knowledge
Evaluation: I was doing well in the first semester of 2012-2013. I managed to pass all subjects. I will be doing more this second semester because I am nearly graduating. Grade is 9.
RESPECT PARENTS
Steps:
-Bless mama/papa always
-Kiss them every mass
-Never shout or talk back
-Keep calm of your temper
-Humble down
-Accept criticisms
Evaluation: I have hard time respecting my parents because most of the times our ideas won’t connect resulting us to shout and fight with one another. Aside from that, they do not listen and support my decisions. I wanted to hear from them that they support me of my happiness. That’s all I want. Grade is 9. I can’t blame myself if I tried to defend and stand on my choices.
SPEAK AND PRACTICE ENGLISH
Steps:
-Read only English related articles news at least 10-20 minutes a day
-Treat English as your friend
-Never be afraid of your grammar
-English is just right at the tip of your tongue
-Feel like American
Evaluation: I’ve loved this part of my resolution and kept working on it this year. I read bulks of online articles in Yahoo. Towards the end of this year, I am more encouraged to practice the language because I will be taking an IELTS examination next year. Grade is 9.
LESS BAD WORDS
Steps:
-Be mindful
-Be conscious of your surrounding
-Aim to be good
-Spank your mouth if speaking such words
-Confess it and pray
Evaluation: Fuck. Grade is 7.
FIND BAYO
Steps:
-Stay simple
-Be real
-Do not be choosy
-Do not be assuming or feeler
-Just patiently wait
-Show good traits
-Never be alone
-Hang-out with friends or strangers
Evaluation: I failed in this part of the resolution because I was not able to find my prince charming this year. I am changing my approach this time. If I was chasing after him in the past, then it is his turn now to find, look and chase after me. But good thing is I’m patiently waiting. Grade is 9.
BE MORE HEALTH CONSCIOUS
Steps:
-Sleep early
-Less soft drinks
-Take a bath on days with no classes
-Drink lacto everyday
-Bring hanky when outside
-Brush teeth and wash face every night
-Think of health as your wealth
Evaluation: I am able to combat and achieve some of the steps in this resolution. I am more conscious when it comes to drinking soft drinks. I can say that I am more aware of my health. Grade is 9.
PRAY THE ROSARY
Steps:
-Find time to be with God
-Be sincere
-Do it daily
-Bring rosary when out
-Feel God’s presence in you and family
Evaluation: I find time to close my eyes and pray every time I lay in bed. I spend few minutes of prayer thanking and asking God of the favours. Grade is 8.
SAVE MORE MONEY
Steps:
-Think of future expenses
-Use it for good
-Buy only important things
-Be like the Chinese
Evaluation: So far, I managed to save lots of money. For me, it would already be much because so far, that was my biggest savings. But I got zero balance again for this month of December because of the gifts and clothes that I bought. Grade is 10.
LUGWA
Steps:
-Be real
-Never be ashamed
-Be proud
-You know yourself better than the others
-You are beautiful
Evaluation: I’ve been pursuing my happiness; to be more vocal about my identity in front of my parents. Recently, we had a talk and I told my parents that they are not supportive of my happiness and mother answered me to check on if what I am doing is for the good of our family. Is being a gay a big problem to you mother? I find my parents killing my own joy. Time will come that their last resort is to accept me for who I am. Grade is 10.
