English Tutorial: Day One

I was supposed to attend my Nihonggo class this afternoon. We have a scheduled exam and an assignment to be passed. Suprisingly, the owner of the OJT company that I was in announced that there will be an English tutorial. I know this is a rare experience and I need to maximize my stay in the company. I was enticed to join the workshop because the trainer was a pure American. I could gain lots of new learnings from her. The company had workshops months ago but I was not able to attend because it's in conflict with my Saturday class. So, I've decided not to go to class. I can still take the exam on Thursday but I have no grade for my assignment.

The first activity was by partner. You would assume that your partner is stupid and you need to tell him/her the activities that you usually do and let him/her understand it in just two minutes. Well, it's kinda easy.

The next game was taboo. The kind of taboo that is in my vocabulary is a ban or an inhibition resulting from social custom or emotional aversion. I never thought that it's a game. This is again in partners. In the first round, I was the giver of clues and we were able to guess all words but the other group finished earlier than us. In the second round, I was tasked to guess and we finished first this time. In the third round, I was exempted because I was the teacher or the provider of words. I wrote the words: imagination, chance and coward. The trainer told me that abstract nouns are difficult to guess. In the fourth round, I was the giver of clue again and my partner was a Russian. We were not able to win because her English vocabulary is limited.

Next, we were given a Miss Universe-like Q&A activity and we need to choose one among three questions. First question: What makes a person truly rich? Second question: Pardon me because I forgot the question. Third question: Who do you consider a successful person? Why?

We were all able to answer but while I was answering the question of my choice which is the first, I was shaking and nervous because as what my introduction was, "I stand before my fear which is public speaking".

Hopefully tomorrow, we will be having a debate. Exciting!
